Employee Spotlight: Steve Thom

Director of Operations – UK

Steve was first introduced to YCD Multimedia back in 2003 while serving as the Managing Director of a UK based audio/visual integrator. Looking for a best in class solution for his clients, that included Royal Bank of Scotland, HBOS and Toyota GB, he found that YCD’s superior technology and digital signage solutions “ticked all the boxes and more”.

In 2006, in order to better serve the growing digital signage market, YCD expanded its direct presence in the UK and Steve joined the company as the Director of Operations. Steve says “It’s been a dream working on projects with highly intelligent and creative colleagues at YCD and working with a world class, cutting edge product and first class creative and customer services.” Since joining YCD, Steve has been instrumental in bringing some of the UK’s largest fashion retailers, food retailers and restaurant groups into YCD’s base of clients.

Steve has a BSc in Electrical Engineering from Glasgow College of Technology and brings over 25 years of experience in communications and A/V technology to YCD. Previously he spent 3 years in the Middle East working on communications projects with the Ministry of Defence, served as Head of Creative Services for one of the UK’s largest broadcast radio stations and established his own sound facilities company which he later sold to a large media group and went on to work on many BBC and independent flagship television programs.

After hours Steve enjoys spending time with his children, photography, music and the cinema. He has a passion for flight simulators and hiking and is currently learning to express himself in one of the oldest mediums - art.
