New York, NY, September 9, 2009 - YCD Multimedia, a developer and provider of smart digital media solutions, and Elecard Devices CJSC, a leading developer of codecs for digital video, have announced today a partnership to deliver Super Hi-Vision quality (up to 3840 x 2160 pixels) broadcasting capabilities to the digital signage market. A demonstration of the new technology will be showcased this week at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) exhibition held September 11th - 15th in Amsterdam.
The solution combines YCD’s MuVi WallTM technology and Elecard’s new advanced MPEG-2 Codec Pack. At IBC YCD will showcase a 9 LCD screen video wall, displaying combined video and animated content in Super HD resolution using Elecard’s MPEG-2 Codec Pack.
“Together, YCD Multimedia and Elecard have managed to bring to market a winning product that enables retailers and content providers to easily manage and playback extremely demanding video content files. We can now deliver almost any required video playback resolution with a cost effective, easy to use and standard solution.” says Dani Zeevi, Chief Technology Officer at YCD Multimedia. “In the process of delivering this solution to the market we have found Elecard to be a most professional partner that is fully committed to our ultimate mutual goal: Enabling our customers to deliver Super HD playback without compromising image quality.”
The exhibited technology exploits the cutting edge Super High Definition encoders comprised in the multipurpose Elecard MPEG-2, AVC/H.264 codec pack. It includes SuperHD, Low Delay, Lossless and UltraFast encoder versions. The Low Delay Edition provides less than a 100 millisecond delay in the compression chain for capturing, encoding, TS multiplexing, demultiplexing and decoding, while the Lossless Edition allows transcoding of compressed content using the same bitrate as the original with a PSNR higher than 50db. The SuperHD decoder used in this exhibition and the YCD|Player™ only go to show the stunning results that can be achieved when technologies brought by Elecard and YCD Multimedia work together.
“We have been working with YCD Multimedia for almost a year and we have both benefited from our partnership,” said Andrey Posdnyakov, Elecard Group President. “The needs of the digital signage market are growing rapidly and it is necessary to have the proper response to that growth. Our response is the fastest Super HD solutions that offer outstanding video quality coupled with Elecard’s 20 years of experience in the video encoding field.”
